Our Awards

At Toadhall Montessori Nurseries and Out of School Academy we continuously strive to both maintain and enhance the high quality care and education we provide for every child. We are proud to have attained the following awards and accreditations.

Investors in People

At Toadhall Montessori Nurseries and Out of School Academy we believe our staff are the most important resource and as a result we are totally committed to investing in our staff and ensuring they become ‘the best they can be’.

To support us in this commitment, we have attained the Investors in People GOLD award, which only 6% of businesses in the UK have achieved. We are currently in the process of gaining the highest accolade in Investors in People, namely the Platinum Award, which is achieved by just 1% of businesses in the UK.

In 2017 Toadhall Montessori Nurseries and Out of School Academy also won the runner up Investors in People’ Business of the Year Award’. We are really proud of this achievement.

Small Healthy Workplace Award

The Small Workplace Health Award is the national mark of quality for health and wellbeing aimed at organisations employing fewer than 50 people.

It is a developmental process, based on good practice and improvement and it can be used to support the creation of activities that promote the health and well-being of employees. The award has been developed to target the key preventable ill-health issues in the workplace, which will also help to increase organisational performance and productivity. We are pleased to say we have attained the Bronze and Silver awards and currently working towards our Gold accreditation

Designed To Smile

Designed to Smile is a national programme to improve the oral health of children in Wales. It is funded by the Welsh Government and was launched in 2009.

Designed to Smile is a preventative programme for Nursery and Primary School children. It involves the delivery of nursery and school based tooth brushing and fluoride programmes for children to help protect teeth against decay. All staff within our settings attend training to support good dental hygiene with all children aged 2 to 4 years, in our care.

Gold Standard Healthy Snack Award for under 5's and 5Plus

Cardiff and Vale Gold Standard Healthy Snack Award is open to day nurseries, Flying Start groups, playgroups, meithrins, childminders and after school clubs. They can achieve the award if healthy snacks and drinks are provided and guidelines on hygiene and the eating environment are met. If a group meets this criteria and has a member of staff trained in nutrition, they can achieve the ‘Gold Plus’ award.

Being part of the scheme shows a commitment to children’s health and encouraging good eating habits. It shows that a setting is putting recommendations from the Food and Nutrition for Childcare Settings into practice.

We have attained the Gold Plus Award as the majority of our staff have undertaken the 6 week OCN Nutrition Course.

Cardiff Healthy and Sustainable Pre-school Scheme (CHaSPS)

The Healthy and Sustainable Pre-school Scheme is a national accreditation scheme which acknowledges pre-school settings as contributors to children’s health and well-being. Settings who embrace CHaSPS will be accredited and recognised for their endeavours in promoting physical, mental, social and emotional health. We have attained the Bronze and Silver Award in this scheme.

Safe in the Sun

At Toadhall Montessori Nurseries and Out of School Academy we ensure all parents and children follow our ‘Safe in the Sun’ practice. We have gained this accreditation and create lots of activities throughout the year, to develop every child’s understanding of sun safety.

Further Awards

At Toadhall Montessori Nurseries and Out of School Academy, we are also currently working towards accreditation for the following awards, to monitor the quality of our provision which in turn will further enhance the care and education we provide for our children.

Montessori STAR Quality Award

The STAR framework is a developmental ladder structure, enabling us to apply for recognition at the level best suited to our educational aims. Current, future goals and strategic intentions for our settings are important considerations within the accreditation procedures. The STAR processes allow each of our settings to illustrate our commitment to high-quality provision, excellence in our operating standards and reflects our experience and investment in quality assurance and enhancement activity

Montessori Accreditation

Montessori Society AMI (UK)

Montessori Education (UK) runs a school accreditation scheme known as Montessori Accreditation. It is a quality assurance process that is designed to help schools and nursery settings, to continuously develop and enhance their Montessori practice.

It consists of an ongoing programme of support, guidance and improvement for our settings and members of staff. This ensures that schools and nursery settings accredited by Montessori Education (UK), continue to embody the highest Montessori standards. At Toadhall Montessori Nurseries and Out of School Academy we are committed to providing the highest standards of Montessori care and education and to have this recognised by AMI UK.

Our Professional Associations

Toadhall Montessori Nurseries and Out of School Academy are affiliated to the following professional organisations, which offer support and external training, to ensure all staff ensure their continuous professional development (CPD) across all areas of early years provision, staff develop their teams and the organisation as a whole.
